I think I'm breaking down again

This is one of my favourite songs off of Florence and The Machine's new album 'Ceremonials'. Ah it's just so beautiful and so is she! I can't wait until 8th March 2012 when I get to see this live!

it's my party and I'll cry if I want to

Been looking for a cheap Christmas/Party dress for a while now and spotted this one online and have been looking in H&M stores for it for ages now and finally found it in Epsom yesterday, woop!

It looks really cute on because it just nips you in at the waist and is just the right length, I find a lot of dresses are too short. It's also got velvet on, and I love a bit of velvet in the winter! It's part of H&M's Conscious collection, so get it whilst stocks last.

Boux Avenue

Yesterday I grabbed the opportunity to go to a press preview and opening of the brand new Boux Avenue store in Guildford, Surrey. Theo Paphitis was there to open the 8th store and invited bloggers and press to have a look around. The concept of the store is for it to look like your own boudoir, with things in drawers, some products hanging and tables of perfume bottles and cosmetics. I met Theo and he said that this was his perfect store because it is a very good size. The products are quite reasonably priced and fit in with the industry and other high end lingerie stores.

This is the window with a big pink ribbon across it and there was a pink carpet outside aswell.

This was a circular display in the middle of the store with slippers, clutch bags and other cute little trinkets on.

This is some of their Christmas range, cute reindeer design.

Sexy red matching sets.

They do a wide range of pyjamas and these are floral printed.

First shot of Theo, he was very busy.

This is the drawer design that I liked. It stops there being too many products on display and it getting over cluttered.

 Till point.

I want these Giraffe pyjamas!

Cosmetics and home products.

Me and the lovely Theo Paphitis!

tweet, follow, repeat

It seems lately that me and my peers have been having lots of conversations about Twitter and the importance of it. Even as I write this blog entry I am on Twitter and have checked it twice already. I can safely say that I am addicted. I can not go one day without checking my Timeline, adding a new tweet, following someone new or checking my followers. I know people say Facebook is addictive but Twitter is on a whole new level for me.

I follow 296 people and have 69 followers (@lornamarie)  therefore every 5 seconds ish my Timeline updates and I have new tweets to read. I think on one side it is really good to find out the latest events and news; for example by James Murdoch trending in the UK I have just found out that he has resigned but on the other hand #cheesefilms is also trending (add the word cheese into a film), 500 days of cheese? haha. But you see where I'm going with this; I follow the people I do because I'm interested in what they have to say and enjoy checking it to see where they are and what they are doing.

Tweet me if you agree ;)

GET SOCIAL

On Monday me and two of my uni friends got up early to attend the Handpicked Media Gets Social event. It was at the Royal Institute of British Architects and as soon as we walked in we realised the scale of the event. About one hundred bloggers attended and enjoyed the free goody bags and freebies from different companies at the event. There were many speakers from the more technical to faces from the fashion industry and bloggers.

This is the main hall where I met other bloggers and discussed how important blogs are and you can see the live twitter feed. #HPMsocial was trending on twitter in the UK after us only being there for 15 minutes, shows how useful social media is!

This is where the speakers divulged their wisdom and you can see Shaa Wasmund in this photo.

I learnt lots of new tips about how to promote my blog and gained inspiration and motivation to carry on blogging! I had a very good day and would recommend it to anybody that is interested in blogging and social media.

there's a long way to go yet...

Soooo I haven't updated my blog since the 12th September, sorry about that. I have three pieces to write for Uni; my dissertation, a presentation and an investigative feature. My dissertation is about the ethics of cosmetics companies, my presentation is about celebrities as fashion icons and I have no idea what I'm doing for my investigative feature! Have been to see 'Crazy Stupid Love' and 'The Help', stupidly huge Emma Stone fan and these films are definitely worth seeing.

Arcade Fire are releasing a video for Sprawl II soon, I can't wait.

Also I bought this hoody from Topshop on Saturday and it's suddenly got really cold so I'm literally not taking it off, ever. It's so warm.

Topshop, £22.00

take a look at these pictures yeahhh...

OMG NYFW

So New York fashion week has finished and London is raring to go. Here are some of my favourites from New York.

3.1 Phillip Lim

Using beautiful silks and chiffon Phillip Lim has developed a collection of pastel colours contrasted with panels of black. It's minimal and soft and made using simple panels.

Band Of Outsiders

Band Of Outsiders have created a wide range of dress shapes in white, black, navy and pastel blue and pink. I love the school girl chic in the classic dress shapes that is then turned into long billowing feminine shapes.

Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano used a strong palette of reds and yellows and made a very cool and collected collection of simple shapes.

I carved your name across my eyelids

Thought I'd combine day 3 and 4 - First AF performance/concert you saw and post your favourite AF picture.

The first and only AF concert I've seen was this year at Hyde Park! They were one of the best bands I've ever seen and I wish I'd pushed my way further to the front so I had a better view but will defo go and see them again!

This is my favourite pic of the whole band...

Mum bought me some new boots because my beloved H&M ones have gaping holes in the back. (still gonna wear them though) These are from New Look.

There are soooo many things that I want atm, loan can not come any quicker! I want this jumper and trousers and a skirt and some trousers from New Look, sigh....

♥ This Jumper, River Island

Green Pleated Trousers, Zara

New York fashion week starts tomorrow! So this blog will actually revert back to a fashion blog haha. I'm excited to see Diane Von Furstenberg, Hervé Léger and Ralph Lauren.

4 & 12 Days, yeahhhhh.

come on hide your lovers

Day 2 - First Arcade Fire song you heard

Rebellion (Lies)

Sleeping is giving in, no matter what the time is.
Sleeping is giving in, so lift those heavy eyelids.
People say that you'll die faster than without water. But we know it's
just a lie, scare your son and scare your daughter.
People say that your dreams are the only things that save ya.
Come on baby in our dreams, we can live our misbehaviour.
Everytime you close your eyes lies, lies!
People try and hide the night underneath the covers.
People try and hide the light underneath the covers.
Come on hide your lovers underneath the covers.
Come on hide your lovers underneath the covers.
Hidin' from your brothers underneath the covers, come on hide your
lovers underneath the covers.
People say that you'll die faster than without water, but we know it's
just a lie, scare your son, scare your daughter
Now here's the sun, it's alright! now here's the moon, it's alright!
Now here's the sun, it's alright! now here's the moon, it's alright!
But everytime you close your eyes, lies!

ready to start

Wow I've been lazy at updating lately, sorry! It's September! This time next week I'll be back in Epsom and reunited with my housemates and in 15 days I will actually have some glorious money to spend in the form of my loan :D Although the plus side of being poor is that my parents buy me things...

Like my new duffle coat from Topshop :) I can't wait for winter now so I can wear it everyday!

So since I last blogged I've been to Silverstone to watch the Renault World Series, seen my friends, been to Notting Hill Carnival, gotten drunk with my friends and taken spontaneous trips.

Postsecret...

I'm going to do the Arcade Fire 8 Day Challenge -

Day 1 - How you found out about Arcade Fire

I knew of them for ages and knew people that liked them but for some reason had just never bothered to actually download any of their music. Then when Zane Lowe first played the tracks We Used to Wait and Ready to Start on Radio 1 I really loved them and so as soon as I could get my hands on 'The Suburbs' I listened to it the whole way through and loved it so much!

London Fashion week is next week wooooop!
