saturday's child works hard for a living

day 08 – a moment, in great detail - 11th December 2010

It was November last year, as I waited for the train to Victoria a million things were going through my mind, was I making the right decision, was this a stupid thing to do? I felt excited but also very sick. As I sat down I knew that in around 30 minutes I would be there and would see him. I was taking a leap of faith, I had no idea what I had gotten myself into but I could feel that it was a good thing. Staring around the carriage I felt like I was in a world of my own, I wasn't reading a newspaper, listening to music or on my mobile I was simply caught up in my own thoughts. Before I knew it I was getting off the train and walking through a very busy station. I searched for the face that I hardly knew as my heart pumped ridiculously fast. I didn't know how he was feeling or what the hell I was going to say, all I did know is that even with all these feelings it felt like I was genuinely doing the right thing.

Friday's child is loving and giving

I'm a Friday's child ;)

Day 7 - Your best friend, in detail - 10th December 2010

I have a few best friends, but Laura is my bffl haha. Laura Melissa Kendrick  and I first became friends in 2004, year 9 of high school. This somehow shy but very outgoing big-busted (yes even then) blonde girl had become friends with geeky, awkward me. We soon became tight friends, thick as thieves, "Best Friends Forever", and however sad that sounds I feel we probably will be.
All of the amazing times we've had together can sometimes be outweighed by the negative times and sometimes I seriously question how we are even friends. But you know what, it always comes down to the same thing, we know we can rely on each other. She can ring me at what ever hour night or day and know that I will answer and bitch about whoever is annoying her at that moment. I don't see her as much anymore because I'm at uni and that makes me sad but I'll never forget all the stupid but memorable times we've had together.

Love to all my friends...

Thursday's child has far to go

Day 06 – your day, in great detail - 9th December 2010

I set my alarm for 9am but as always I didn't want to get up and so finally awoke at 10am. Straight away I turned my laptop on and got to work on my Pitch for Uni. Got it finished and posted it online at around half 10. Showered, got dressed then went to co-op to buy coke, cakes and a magazine, yeah I know, really healthy. I had lunch whilst watching the film Anchorman and then my house-mate reminded me of a talk at Uni by Guest speaker Caryn Franklin. The talk was very inspiring so I'm going to give you some of my opinions on it.

The talk was named 'Every Body Counts' and featured topics such as individuality, size zero, diversity, fashion imagery and the society that we live in. I feel that it is important that different sized models are used in magazines and on the catwalks. But society needs to accept this fact first. In basically any fashion magazine that you pick up it will include a Caucasian, tall, very thin model, scantily clad in high fashion. But this is just what we have all come to know but it's time to start questioning it. Why do we feel that in our highly multi-cultured society it's okay not to represent everybody that looks at the magazine.
Caryn Franklin is part of an organisation called 'All Walks' that brought together a range of different models in all different ethnicities, age and sizes. None of them were unhealthy and yet still looked beautiful.

It's not that being skinny is wrong, and I know that Keira Knightly and Victoria Beckham have raised the issue that being skinny is obviously not a bad thing and many women are naturally this way. However we just need to broaden the idea and look at all shapes, thin, curvy, voluptuous, flat chested, large chested etc. Young children and young adults need to be shown that however you look is perfectly acceptable.

With 8 out of 10 women not liking their appearance in Britain today it's pretty shocking that the industry can carry on this way. But of course it's a capitalist issue, if they can't make money then they are not interested. Oh and we all know, sex sells, so who knows if any time soon we can change the way that society and large corporations project women to their audience.

wednesday's child is full of woe

Day 5 - your definition of love, in great detail - 8th Dec

I think my definition of love changes with how I'm feeling, but right now this is what I think. It's when you can't get somebody off your mind, and loads of things remind you of them. It's when you'd do anything to talk to them and see them and they'd do the same for you. You know that they'll always be there for you and you can talk to them about anything. Although there will always be highs and lows and sometimes you don't see the lows until you look back retrospectively. It's hard not to get in too deep too quickly, but mostly this can't be helped and you'll never see clearly again.

Day 4 - What you ate today, in great detail - 7th Dec

I have eaten a wholemeal sandwich with beef and lettuce in and a bag of bbq beef hula hoops. That's it.

Monday's child is fair of face

Day 3 - Your parents, in great detail - 6th Dec

My parents are Lynda and Stephen, they've been married for 20 odd years and live in Chelmsford. My Dad has always lived in Chelmsford and actually went to my high school when it was called Broomfield High ( that was a long time ago), he worked at Mastercare, the technical bit behind what used to be currys & dixons, for about 40 years and then they went into administration so he is now retired. My mum lived in London and Writtle and went to Hylands high school. She also used to work at Mastercare but then had children and so now works at my old primary school. To be honest I don't know how they've stayed married this long, seems impossible. But I'm glad they have, I love them both and I know that even though sometimes they shout at me and get annoyed they will always be there for me.

sunday, here comes monday.

Day 2 - Your first love, in great detail - 5th December 2010

This one is tricky because at the time of a relationship you think you love them but then looking back you think that you probably didn't. But I know who it was. It was the summer of 2008. I was in my first year of sixth form and we'd always been in the same year at high school but we suddenly just got to know each other. We were only together for 5 months but he was the first person to properly care about me. We're still friends now, therefore I'd write more but he may read this aha.

My best friend commented this on a photo of us : "I am actually incredibly jealous :(
you two are the best couple everrrrrrrr xxxx"

Until Tomorrow

Day 1 - Introduce Yourself - 4th December 2010

My name is Lorna Marie Hatch, named after Lorna Doone, a fictional character in the novel by Richard Blackmore. Sometimes called Lorn. Born 25th January 1991, yes exactly one month after christmas :) Also a total 90s kid. Born in Chelmsford, Essex but I attend University for the Creative Arts in Epsom and study Fashion Journalism. I am 1 out of a family of 5, my parents and my older brother and sister ♥. I'm awkward, I think too much, I over complicate things and I'm indecisive. I have no motivation and have no idea how I've made it to my 2nd year of Uni. Sometimes I care too much and sometimes I couldn't give a fuck. I love fashion, shopping and generally spending money. I hate fake people, people who can't use proper grammar, and people who insist on making themselves a tangerine colour. I'm a complete geek when it comes to Harry Potter, as you can probably see from past posts, but unlike most HP fans I also love Twilight. I love Russell Brand, I think he's hilarious and hot! I love all types of music and pretty much every song on my iTunes reminds me of something or someone. I'm a total internet whore, I have my blog, Facebook, Twitter, formspring and even still hold an active MySpace account haha. My 'Bio' on Facebook is simply 'I don't really know what kind of girl I am', it's from my favourite film 'Juno' and tbh most of the time I don't really know who I am.

Here is a recent photo of me and a picture I found that I like.
